NOB-Hyderabad news: A forensic audit has revealed that a scam of around Rs.1000 crores has taken place in the Commercial Taxes Department. To this extent, the police registered an FIR on 26th of July and included former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar as A-5. The preliminary investigation of the police has revealed that the funds due to the government were diverted based on the software developed by IIT Hyderabad by Somesh, who was the Commissioner of the Commercial Taxes Department at that time and caused damage to the exchequer. Additional Commissioner (Sales Tax) SC Kashi Visveswara Rao (A-1), Deputy Commissioner Sivaram Prasad (A-2), Professor Sobhanbabu (Assistant Professor, IIT Hyderabad), Plianto, working in that department, as per the complaint of Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax Ravi Kanuri Technologies (A-4) were named as accused. An FIR has been registered against them under Section 65 of IT Act Section 406, 409, 120-B of IPC. In December last year, the Department of Commercial Taxes started an investigation into the case that a company named Big Leap Technologies had defrauded Rs.25 crores in the name of input tax, and it was found that the officials of the department were involved in it. After investigating deeply, issuing notices to the suspected officials, getting explanations from them, then cross-examination, then filing a petition in the High Court. After all this, it was found that all the data in the software created by Hyderabad IIT went to a third party. Police have come to a preliminary conclusion that Assistant Professor Shobhan Babu is also involved in this. As part of the investigation, it became clear that there was a scam worth Rs.450 crores. In this FIR, the police stated that State Beverages Corporation was also a beneficiary. The police understood that Shobhanbabu made changes in the software on the instructions of former CS Somesh Kumar. City Police Commissioner Kothakota Srinivasa Reddy told the media that a complaint has been received from the Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax and an FIR has been registered under various sections against all five persons including former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar. The details will be known after the investigation.
