
NOB- Hanumakonda news: The Hanumakonda police have arrested a husband and wife who were targeting RTC bus passengers. The police have seized 100 grams of 5 milligram gold ornaments worth about Rs. 8.50 lakh from them. The couple arrested by the police have been identified as Swapna (27), a resident of Kataram village, Tadwai mandal, Mulugu district, and Madduri Satyanarayana (38). Disclosing details regarding this arrest, the Hanumakonda ACP said that the husband of the couple arrested by the police was a caste worker, while the wife, who is a disabled person, was staying at home. Since Satyanarayana’s income was not enough for the luxuries, he wanted to earn money easily. For this, the couple are ready to commit thefts that target passengers traveling in RTC buses. In this case, the accused first stole gold chains from the neck of a woman and an elderly woman boarding an RTC bus at the RTC bus stand under the Hanumakonda police station in February, March and December 2024 and handed them over to her husband. This couple stole gold ornaments from the necks and side bags of two women while boarding the bus on the same day at the Hanumakonda bus stand in December 2024. The accused used to store the stolen goods in the house where they reside. Alerted to these thefts, the Hanumakonda police, on the instructions of Central Zone DCP Sheikh Salima, conducted a special investigation under the supervision of Hanumakonda ACP Devender Reddy. A couple who were committing thefts at bus stands, police use technology available and they were identified. As part of this, the accused were walking along Hanumakonda Tailors Street on 20.01.2025 to make money by selling the stolen goods. When the couple were walking along the patrolling police station, they made a false report against them. The police found gold jewelry in their possession and arrested the couple. When questioned, they confessed to the thefts they had committed. The ACP congratulated Hanumakonda Inspector Satish, Admin S.I Ashok Kumar, Crime S.I Kishore, A.O Salman Pasha, Head Constables Narayana, Rahul, Constables Mahesh, Ashok, and Veeranna Bhaskar for their efforts in catching the accused.
