NOB-Mancherial news: The bank staff, who had been fooled by the scam, took advantage of the gold that people had hidden with great trust. An incident of stealing 25 kg of gold from their gold loan accounts and using that money for cricket betting has come to light in Chennur, Mancherial district. The bank manager and cashier are the main masterminds of this huge fraud, which is causing a stir. This scam took place at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Chennur. Narige Ravinder, who works as a cashier there, is addicted to cricket betting. After losing about Rs. 40 lakhs in these bets, he resorted to all sorts of tricks to recover the loss. Bank manager Ennapureddy Manohar, along with outsourcing employee Lakkakula Sandeep, hatched a plan to steal the customer’s gold. They implemented their plan from October 2024 year. They took out 25.17 kg of gold little by little from the gold loan packets of 402 customers of the bank. This gold was handed over to Dheeraj, Rajasekhar and Kishan, who work in some private gold loan companies. They took out loans by pledging the gold in their institutions. They kept a commission from the money received and transferred the remaining amount to Ravinder’s account. Police investigation revealed that Ravinder used this money for online cricket betting and that all this money was diverted abroad. This huge gold loan scam was exposed during the recent inspections of the bank by the auditing officers. The officers, who noticed suspicious transactions, immediately informed the bank’s regional manager. The real matter came to light when he complained to the Chennur police. The police detained the cashier Ravinder and interrogated him, and the entire scam was uncovered. Ramagundam CP Amber Kishore Jha revealed the details of the case to the media. He said that a case has been registered against a total of 47 people, including the bank manager, cashier, private finance employees and benami. So far, 15.23 kg of gold and Rs 1.61 lakh in cash has been seized and the investigation is ongoing.
