NOB-Bapatla news: Bapatla police gave a tough time to a hardened dacoity gang that had threatened a bank manager with a knife in Maharashtra and was escaping with a large sum of cash. The bravery displayed by Bapatla Town CI Rambabu in this operation has now become a topic of widespread discussion. His swiftness in identifying and handcuffing the accused within seconds on a crowded train has brought pride to the police department. Immediately after receiving information from the Maharashtra police, District SP B. Umamaheswar alerted the Bapatla Crime DSP and CI Rambabu. Just minutes before the Krishna Express arrived at Bapatla station, the CI strategized with his team. Realizing the risk of the accused escaping due to the extreme passenger congestion on the train during the festival holidays, CI Rambabu deployed his plainclothes personnel throughout the station. As soon as the train stopped, CI Rambabu directly rushed into the compartment. Despite having prior information that the accused possessed deadly weapons (a knife), he proceeded with the safety of the passengers as his primary objective. Before the culprits could recover, they were surrounded and taken into custody. In just 3 minutes, the five accused were brought down from the train, and Rs. 6,72,700 in cash was recovered from them. Although the accused had the opportunity to pull the chain and escape while the train was moving, CI Rambabu thwarted that possibility with his meticulous planning. State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta specially congratulated CI Rambabu over the phone for the professional skill he displayed. The District SP praised him, saying that it is because of proactive officers like CI Rambabu that criminals in Bapatla district are trembling with fear.
