NOB_Bibipet: The bridge in Bibipet mandal, which was damaged during last year’s heavy rains, has reached a dilapidated state, sparking concern among locals.

Former MPTC husband and Mudiraj leader Korivi Narasimhulu alleged that although the issue has been brought to the notice of the government and officials several times, no full-fledged repair works have been taken up so far.

He said currently two-wheelers, four-wheelers and even heavy vehicles are plying on the damaged bridge, which is further weakening it. During rains, the inner portion of the bridge was damaged due to water flow and there is a risk of it collapsing gradually.

It is painful that officials have not responded even though news about the problem was published several times in the past, he said. Public representatives and officials have inspected the bridge several times but works have not started.

As this route is the main road for Bibipet mandal, if the bridge collapses, villages like Issanagar, Upparapally, Tujalpur, Sherbipet, Rampur, Naskal, Yadaram, Janagama and Chitrampally will lose connectivity and face severe hardship.

Stating that it will take years to construct a new bridge after it collapses completely, Narasimhulu demanded that the government immediately sanction funds and start repair works. He urged to take steps for a new strong bridge if required and to arrange lighting on the bridge to prevent accidents at night.
