NOB- Draksharama news: A sacrilege has occurred at the famous pilgrimage site of Draksharama Bhimeshwara Temple in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Miscreants vandalized the Kapaleshwara Swamy Shivalinga located near the northern gopuram on the banks of the Sapta Godavari river on 29.12.2025 midnight. The incident came to light on 30.12.2025 morning, leaving locals and devotees deeply shocked. Police have preliminarily identified that the Shivalinga was struck and broken with a pointed weapon, possibly a hammer. Upon learning of the incident, Kakinada District SP Rahul Meena immediately reached the spot and personally inspected the site. The clues team and forensic experts collected evidence from the scene. Since there are no CCTV cameras in the temple premises, police are scrutinizing footage from cameras in the surrounding areas. The SP announced that six special teams have been deployed to apprehend the culprits. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed strong anger over the incident. He spoke to Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy over the phone and inquired about the details. He ordered that those responsible be brought to justice. Minister Anam responded by saying that a new Shiva lingam has already been re-consecrated at the damaged site in the presence of Vedic scholars, and that he has instructed officials to tighten security at all temples across the state. Meanwhile, BJP state president PVN Madhav condemned the incident. He demanded that the police investigate the matter from all angles and severely punish those who attacked the Hindu religion.
