NOB_Shadnagar, Rangareddy District:What is meant to be a symbol of unity and joy turned into a scene of discord in Peerjapur village.
Villagers of Jilled Chowdergudem mandal had planned to celebrate Vinayaka Chavithi grandly for nine days with special pujas and cultural events. The plan was to install the Ganesh idol at the local Anjaneyaswamy temple. However, differences erupted between two groups over whose idol should be installed in the temple.
The argument escalated into tension as both sides remained adamant. Upon receiving information, police rushed to the village and intervened to prevent any law and order issue. They directed both groups not to install any idol inside the temple premises and instead set them up at separate locations.
Hurt by the police directive and the ongoing dispute, one group immersed their Ganesh idol in the village tank without performing any puja or rituals.
“We wanted to celebrate happily as one village, but everything was ruined due to the ego clashes of a few elders,” local villagers said with anguish. They added that such behavior in matters of faith has deeply hurt their sentiments and hoped such incidents would not repeat in the future.
