Ghaziabad police interrogated five people in the case of religious conversion

NOB- Uttar Pradesh news: Police have arrested Pastor Gerald Mathew Mash and four associates for illegally converting 150 people from Ghaziabad, Modinagar, Baghpat and Hapud. The group targets vulnerable people, promising to cure diseases and eradicate poverty. They perform Christian rituals, pay Rs.300-Rs.3,500 each and add them to WhatsApp groups that spread Christian content. The police detected the fraud through the pastor’s mobile phone and WhatsApp groups. The accused were charged under the UP Illegal Conversion Act and sent them to jail. Investigations revealed plans for a major exchange event in September 2024, with outsiders attending. Police are investigating the sources of funding and possible links to external organisations.
