Hashish Oil worth 1 Crore seized, One arrested

NOB-Rangareddy news: Police in Maheshwaram, Ranga Reddy District working jointly with the Special Operations Team (SOT) seized a large quantity of drugs during a coordinated inspection. The police intercepted approximately 9.402 kilograms of hashish oil (an oil derived from cannabis) that was being illegally transported from Odisha to Hyderabad. The value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around Rs.1 crore.

Details of the Accused:

A-1: Korabu Chanti Babu (35 years old), Resident of Alluri Sitarama Raju District, Andhra Pradesh (Arrested).

A-2: Rajarao (Odisha), Absconding

A-3: Unidentified Individual, Absconding

According to police details, A-1, Chanti Babu, procured the drugs from A-2, Rajarao, and was attempting to supply them to unidentified individuals in Hyderabad. The police took him into custody on the evening of March 29th 2026 while he was standing at the Maheshwaram Gate bus stop. From his possession, they seized the hashish oil packed in 10 polythene covers and two mobile phones. The police stated that the accused, Chanti Babu, already has four previous cases registered against him under the NDPS Act in the Kancharapalem, Anakapalli, and Visakhapatnam areas of Andhra Pradesh. The “Future City” police have advised the youth and students to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to drugs. They also urged parents to keep a close watch on their children’s behavior. Sudheer Babu, IPS, along with other senior officials, congratulated the officers who demonstrated exceptional performance during this operation.
