NOB_ADILABAD:On 04.11.2026, the Accused Officer (AO), Sri G. Ramesh, Sub-Inspector of Police, Bazarhathnoor Police Station, Adilabad District, was caught in an ACB trap in connection with the demand of illegal gratification of Rs.40,000\/- from the complainant for showing official favour, i.e., not implicating the complainant in a case registered under Section 194 BNSS relating to the suicidal death of an unmarried woman and returning the complainant’s mobile phone, which had been retained by the AO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The deceased woman had reportedly made her last phone call to the complainant before her death. Taking advantage of this circumstance, the AO allegedly threatened to implicate the complainant in the case and demanded illegal gratification to refrain from doing so. The AO initially demanded Rs.50,000\/- and subsequently reduced the demand to Rs.40,000\/- upon the request of the complainant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the trap proceedings, the AO met the complainant near an under-construction petrol bunk on the outskirts of the village and instructed him to place the bribe amount of Rs.40,000\/- beneath the centering boxes at the said location. Accordingly, the complainant placed the amount as instructed by the AO. Thus, the AO performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage by misusing his official position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AO is being arrested and produced before the Hon’ble Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Karimnagar, for judicial remand. The case is under investigation. The details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
