On Friday, DGP CV Anand announced the launch of ‘Fit Cop,’ a comprehensive health management app designed for over 90,000 police personnel across the state. He noted that due to intense work-related stress and a lack of time, personnel often struggle to focus on their own health; this app is intended to bridge that gap.Developed in collaboration with the Helping Hand Foundation and other organizations, this police health management profile system\u2014titled ‘TG Fit Cop’\u2014is set to be implemented within the next 30 to 45 days, according to a statement released by the DGP’s office. Through this app, personnel can register their personal health information. Key data\u2014such as diabetes status, blood pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), lifestyle habits, and tobacco or alcohol consumption\u2014will be collected.Personnel will be able to log into the system using their mobile phone numbers. Based on the information provided, individuals are categorized into low, medium, and high-risk groups. This risk assessment helps identify those who require immediate medical attention. Salman, founder of the Helping Hand Foundation, stated that staff members would be contacted through a dedicated call center based on their risk level. He explained that those in need would be provided with medical screenings, hospital treatment, health advice, and counseling.The primary objective of ‘Fit Cop’ is to detect health issues\u2014such as kidney-related ailments, diabetes, and hypertension\u2014at an early stage, ensuring medical intervention before conditions become severe. Through this initiative, the Police Department aims to foster health awareness among its personnel and promote preventive measures. The program is set to be expanded across all wings and departments of the Telangana Police. DGP Anand expressed optimism that ‘Fit Cop’ would evolve into a significant institutional mechanism for safeguarding the health of police personnel.
