NOB_State government GO on reservations in local elections

NOB-Telanagana news: The state government has finalized the reservation procedures for local body elections. As per the orders of the Supreme Court, guidelines have been issued to provide reservations not exceeding 50 percent. The GO was released to this extent on 22.11.2025. It explained a clear process on how to implement reservations in gram panchayat elections. The GO states that reservations will be implemented in scheduled areas as per Article 244 of the Constitution of India. It has been decided to provide up to 50 percent reservation for women. The guidelines state that these reservations should be implemented equally in all categories including SC, ST, BC, OC. It has been clarified that reservations should be implemented according to the latest rotation, taking into account the categories for which reservations were allocated in the last (2019) elections. Reservations have been provided for ward members based on the 2024 caste survey and for sarpanches based on the 2011 census (2024 caste survey for BC sarpanch candidates).
