NOB-Hyderabad news: A massive food fraud racket has been exposed in Hyderabad. The Task Force, in collaboration with the Goshamahal police, conducted a joint raid on an illegally operating coconut powder manufacturing unit located in the Begum Bazaar area. The police have taken an individual named Nakul Marotia (31) into custody. Investigations revealed that he was procuring low-quality coconut powder from Karnataka, fraudulently packaging it under the brand name ‘Chetak,’ and selling it as an authentic product.

*   8,300 kilograms of coconut powder

*   3 packaging machines

*   3 weighing scales

*   400 packaging pouches

The seized packets bore no FSSAI license number, batch number, or expiry date. Officials stated that the manufacturing process was carried out under unsanitary conditions, thereby endangering public health. A case has been registered at the Goshamahal Police Station under Crime No. 92/2026, invoking Sections 318(4) and 274 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), as well as Section 57(ii) of the FSSAI Act. The police have advised the public to exercise caution regarding counterfeit food products and urged them to immediately report any suspicious products they encounter. The Task Force announced that further raids targeting such illegal activities will continue.
