
NOB- Hyderabad news: Hyderabad city police are focusing special attention on controlling drugs in the city during the New Year celebrations. City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, IPS, has instructed officers to take strict measures with the goal of a ‘Zero Drugs’ policy. On 26.12.2025, he conducted a review meeting with officers from H-New, Task Force, Special Branch, West Zone, CCS, and other departments at the Telangana Command Control Center in Banjara Hills, and provided guidance to the respective departments. He made it clear that the use of drugs during the New Year celebrations will not be tolerated. From 26.12.2025 onwards, we have deployed special surveillance teams in pubs, hotels, restaurants, and event venues across the city. Our surveillance will also extend to private parties held in service apartments and hostels, in addition to the main venues. We are closely monitoring the movements of those who were accused in drug cases in the last two years. We have instructed officers to prepare a list of drug suppliers and addicts and keep them under constant surveillance. We are also inquiring about the details of those who have recently arrived in the city, said CP Sajjanar. Warning about the timings of the celebrations, the CP said that pubs, hotels, and restaurants must strictly close at 1 AM during the New Year celebrations. They warned that strict action would be taken against pubs, hotels, and restaurants that violate the rules, and made it clear that their licenses would be revoked. They explained that strong checkpoints and barricades are being set up in crowded areas such as Maitrivanam, Necklace Road, Tank Bund, and KBR Park. They instructed officials to keep a close watch on private celebrations held in service apartments and hostels. They stated that they have advised the officials to ensure that the celebrations proceed peacefully without causing any inconvenience to the general public in the name of surveillance. They said that all police officers should work in coordination to enhance the reputation of the city police. The meeting was attended by DCPs N. Shweta, IPS, K.
