
NOB- Chennai news: Chennai Police has arrested six people and detained two others for forcing a 14-year-old girl into prostitution. The girl’s sister was among those arrested by the police. The girl lives in Chemmencheri. She moved to Paduvancheri to live with her sister. According to the police, her sister and mother-in-law forced her into prostitution. The girl was taken to many places including KK Nagar and Chengalpattu. After the Child Welfare Committee of Chengalpattu alerted the police, the Selaiyur All Women Police formed a special team and rescued the girl. On the basis of call records and investigation, police arrested six persons namely Lakshmi, Prakash, Damodharan, Kavitha, Karpagam and Srinivasan. Police charged them as per rules. Two more suspects have been detained and questioned in connection with this case. Further investigation is underway. Recently, in May 2024, seven men were arrested in Chennai for pimping schoolgirls into prostitution. According to sources, the main accused, K Nadia, befriended her daughter on the pretext of teaching beautician courses and coerced her classmates. After that she exploited the financial background of the children and took Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 35,000, mainly from Hyderabad and Coimbatore for prostitution.
