NOB- Jerusalem news: Twelve-year-old Suleiman Hassan from the Jordan Valley loves to ride a bicycle. Every day when he comes home from school, he has to ride his bicycle on the roads of the valley. His parents often warned him to be careful on the ever-busy valley roads. However, one day, shortly after Hasan went for a bicycle ride, a man came running to their house. He said that Hasan was hit by a car and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Hearing the news, Hasan’s parents were shocked. His father didn’t know what to do when he found out that an accident had happened to his son who was being brought up riotously. He recovered immediately and left for the hospital. When the doctors were talking about Hasan’s condition, they understood that there was no chance of their son surviving. But when the doctors said that they will try their best to survive, they started to have a little hope that their son would come back as usual.

The doctors of Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem took Hasan’s case as a challenge. Hasan got serious injuries in the neck in the accident. In addition, it was found that there was a severe injury in the lower abdomen. Dr. Ohad Einav, who is working as an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, said that Hasan was brought in a condition where his head and body were almost completely separated from each other. He was severely injured at the junction of the head and neck. There ligaments are also completely damaged. Along with them, they found a severe injury in the abdomen. They have decided to conduct a quick review of his condition and perform an operation. In this operation, Hasan’s head and spine were reunited. It is a very complex process. For this operation, along with a team of specialist doctors working in all departments of the hospital, nurses worked hard for several hours in the operation theatre. The technical experience of the doctors was very helpful during the operation. At this critical moment, immediately after the accident, the trauma staff responded promptly and every decision from providing basic treatment to performing an operation helped to save Hasan’s life. Doctors effort was not wasted. The operation was successful,” said Dr. Ohad Einav.

The operation was done in June 2023. Now Hassan’s condition has improved and he has been discharged from the hospital. After the operation, Hasan was closely monitored by doctors and nurses in the hospital for months. With tears in his eyes, Hassan’s father thanked the doctors who brought his son back to life. “I owe the rest of my life to the doctors who brought our only son back to life. God bless you all. Although the chances of survival after the accident were slim, highly experienced medical personnel, technology, quick decision making, trauma and orthopedic teams saved our boy. For this, I can’t do anything but say a big thank you to them,” Hassan’s father said.
