NOB- Sriharikota news:’Chandrayaan-3′ launched by ISRO to carry out research on the moon (Moon Mission).
It has recently completed a milestone. The lander module (Vikram, Pragyan) which has been successfully separated from the propulsion module is ready to land on the surface of the moon in a few days. At the same time, Luna-25 (Luna) launched by Russia is also taking steps towards the South Pole. Like this India and Russia have introduced different landers which will land on the moon first, there is great excitement all over the world. Although there is a chance of landing on moon with a short time difference between these two, experts say that the main point is to land safely.
Chandrayaan-3, which started its journey on July 14th 2023, has to travel for more than 40 days to reach the moon. On the other hand, Luna-25, which was launched by Russia on August 10th 2023 for research on the moon after a gap of almost 50 years, will reach moon within 11 days. While ISRO is trying to land Chandrayaan-3 safely at the south pole of the moon on August 23rd 2023, it seems that Luna-25 will land on August 21st to 23rd 2023. Although ISRO has already clarified on this, the Russian space agency Roscosmos has not yet revealed the exact time of landing. If possible, it seems that there is no chance of landing on the south pole of the moon on the same day.
Scientists say that Luna-25 is helping to reach the moon faster due to its light weight and high fuel capacity. The total weight of Luna-25 is 1750 kg, while Chandrayaan-3 is 3900 kg. While the payload weight is about 1800 kg (including lander and rovers), Luna-25’s payload is only 31 kg. Experts say that Luna-25 will be able to travel in a short time due to its lower mass than Chandrayaan-3. Apart from this, Luna-25 has a huge fuel storage capacity which helps it to go directly to the moon. Chandrayaan-3 had to go around the orbit more times due to low fuel capacity, said Dr. K Sivan, former chairman of ISRO. That is why it entered the moon’s orbit 22 days after it was launched.
Experts claim that sunlight affects the landing time of these highly prestigious missions. At the time of landing on the South Pole there should be light. Day begins on the moon from August 23rd 2023. The entire world is eagerly waiting for the spaceships launched by India and Russia to land on the moon with a short time difference. If these missions land successfully on moon ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 will operate for a total of 14 days.Luna-25 will conduct research for a year.
