NOB- Delhi news: Bird flu is more dangerous than Covid, says DR. Jugal Kishore, Prof HOD, Department of Community Medicine, Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi. The death rate due to this is many times higher than covid. However, bird flu is less likely to infect humans. This means that even though this virus can spread from bird to human, it cannot easily spread from one person to another. Researches on various types of diseases are going on all over the world. In this order, a recent research was also done on bird flu. Scientists researching bird flu in Pittsburgh have described the disease as a major threat. They expressed concern that there is a risk of this disease infecting a large number of people in the coming period. Bird flu virus H5N1 is spreading very fast, scientists said.
DR. NR Rawat of Rajasthan Veterinary and Animal Sciences University explained that bird flu is caused by H5N1 influenza virus. This virus is spread between birds. Attacks their airways. Due to this the birds have difficulty in breathing. They die if not treated at the right time. The virus is spread from one to another through the droppings and saliva of birds. Its infection rate is very high. The virus infects millions of birds within a few days causing their death. DR. Rawat explained that bird flu is transmitted from infected birds to humans. People who live around birds and work in poultry farms are at high risk of contracting the disease. Bird flu is spread to humans who walk in areas where bird droppings have been deposited. This causes cough, cold and difficulty in breathing. In some cases it can also cause pneumonia. If not treated in time, death can occur.
If one person is infected with bird flu, the chances of spreading it to another person are low. In such a situation, there is less risk of bird flu becoming a major pandemic than Covid. DR. Kishore said that cases of bird flu continue to be recorded in India. Every time the disease is under control. There is no need to panic in such a situation. In the history of bird flu, there have been very few cases of its infection in humans. There is no need to worry in such a situation. But it is very important for people to know about the symptoms of this disease and prevent it. Characteristics seen in humans are Headache, Reverse muscle pain, Fever, Shortness of breath. DR. Kishore said that there is no suitable medicine for bird flu and the patient is treated only based on the symptoms. But bird flu prevention can be done easily. For this it is important to avoid contact with a bird infected with bird flu. He should wear a PPE kit even if he goes near the bird. If you are eating chicken, cook it well. Wash hands regularly. Get treatment if you have flu symptoms.
