NOB- Hyderabad news: MLC Kavitha, who was arrested in a liquor scam and in jail, got a huge relief. The Supreme Court ruled granting her bail. Kavitha has been in Tihar Jail since March 15th 2024. Her health is deteriorating. The accused in the Delhi Liquor Scam case are getting bails consecutively. Delhi’s former Deputy CM Sisodia got bail recently. Prominent lawyer Mukul Rohatgi argued on behalf of Kavita. Mukul Rohatgi mentioned key points in his argument. The court was informed that it has already been 5 months since Kavitha’s arrest. He explained that she was in jail for five months in ED cases and four months in CBI cases. ED and CBI investigations have also been completed and charge sheets have also been filed. He said that 493 witnesses have also been questioned by the investigating agencies. He said that there is no possibility of influencing the witnesses and there is no chance of leaving the country. Many people change their phones and cars and it is not correct to call it a big crime. He said that the investigating agencies are only making allegations that hundred crores have changed hands. It was brought to the attention of the court that not a single penny was recovered. In this context, it was requested to the court that Kavitha is eligible for bail.
SV Raju, who argued on behalf of the ED, also mentioned the key points. He said that as soon as the ED notices were given to Kavitha, the phones were destroyed. It has been revealed that the information has been completely destroyed. He said that they were formatted and given to workmen at home. The court was told that Kavitha did not cooperate with the investigating officers during the investigation. The Supreme Court made key comments when it came to the mention of phones. Kavita’s lawyer argued that many people change their phones and cars. ED’s lawyer said that changing phones is not common. Kavitha destroyed the necessary evidence in this case. He said that deleting data on phones is different from completely erasing. The lawyer on behalf of the ED told the court that Kavitha had formatted the phones she wanted and only ten days of data could be recovered from the phones she gave. At the end of July 2024, KTR expressed hope that Kavitha will get bail next week. Bail did not come as expected. The hearing was adjourned. Now she got bail in the trial. The Supreme Court granted bail as CBI and ED did not raise any major objections. Kavitha has been in jail for a long time already. Experts of BRS legal department are of the opinion that CBI has registered the charge sheets.
