Yogita Rana appointed as Telangana Education Secretary

NOB-Hyderabad news:  Senior IAS officer Yogita Rana has been appointed as the Education Secretary. Rana, a 2003 batch IAS officer, is currently holding the responsibilities of the Social Welfare Department Secretary.However, the state government appointed Burra Venkatesham, who was the Education Secretary, as the TGPSC Chairman in December 2024. With this, N. Sridhar was given additional responsibilities.With the recent appointment of Yogita Rana as Secretary, the Education Department has relieved Sridhar from those responsibilities. Meanwhile, N. Sridhar has been given additional responsibilities as the Secretary of the Mines Department. Similarly, K. Surendra Mohan has been appointed as the Transport Commissioner by the government.Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari issued orders to this effect on 10.01.2025. Yogita Rana is an IAS officer of the 2003 batch. She was selected for IRTS in the third attempt in the Civil Services in 2002.She was selected for IAS in the fourth attempt in the Civil Services in 2003. She underwent training in Visakhapatnam district for a year after being assigned to the united Andhra Pradesh.Later, she worked as Bhadrachalam Sub-Collector and Rampachodavaram ITDA PO. After that, she worked in UNDP for three and a half years. In 2017, she worked as the Nizamabad District Collector and received an award at the national level from Prime Minister Modi for the implementation of ‘e-NAM’.
