He is called as People’s governor, Jagdeep Dhankhar the present West Bengal Governor is a NDA recommended candidate for vice president of India. He is a Jat leader. Before taking the oath as West Bengal Governor, he used to be a senior advocate of Supreme Court and was very famous. He is well versed with administrative as well as legislative affairs. During 1989 to 1991, he was the member of the Janata Dal (JD) from Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu constituency and joined the BJP in 2003. He held position as  was also a Union minister in 1990,the former president of the Rajasthan High Court Bar Association, Jaipur in 1987 and also served as a former chairman of a Parliamentary Committee in 1990.
