NOB- Delhi news: A brutal incident at a prominent ashram in the country’s capital Delhi has come to light. The incident of a Swamiji, who was supposed to educate poor female students, sexually harassing them is causing a stir. 17 female students have approached the police alleging that Swami Chaitanyanananda Saraswati alias Parthasarathy, who is working as the director of the Sri Sarada Institute of Indian Management in Vasant Kunj area, sexually harassed them. Swami Chaitanyanananda targeted female students studying post-graduate management courses on scholarship under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) quota at the institute. The victims have alleged that they were subjected to acts like using obscene language, sending obscene messages and forcibly touching them. They alleged that some wardens and female staff also pressured them to accede to Swami’s demands. The police, who registered a case on the basis of the victim’s complaint, have started an investigation. South-West District DCP Amit Goyal said that a case has been registered against Swami Chaitanyanananda under sexual harassment and other sections. However, the accused has absconded after the matter came to light. The police are on the lookout for him. His movements were last seen near Agra. As part of the investigation, the police have identified the Volvo car used by the accused in the basement of the institute. The car was seized after it was found to have a fake diplomatic number plate (39 UN 1). The incident assumed greater significance as the ashram is a branch of the Sringeri Sri Sarada Peetha, a famous pilgrimage site in South India. The Sringeri Peetha immediately responded to the allegations. It issued a statement stating that Swami Chaitanyanananda’s actions were illegal and against the rules of the Peetha. It made it clear that not only did he get removed from his post, but he was also completely severed from all ties with the Peetha.
