NOB- Nellore district news: Gogula Srikanth (34) of Satyavolu Agrahara, Kondapuram Mandal, Nellore District runs a PG hostel in Kondapur Raghavendra Colony, Hyderabad. In 2017, Kavali businessman Maddasani Prakasam married his daughter Amulya to Srikanth. Prakasam’s son Yashwant (25) has completed his B.Tech while staying in his brother in law’s hostel he was looking for a job. Yashwant used to stay with his friend Mahesh in a room on the ground floor of the hostel and help his brother-in-law in running the hostel. But Srikanth became addicted to bad addictions and incurred debts of over Rs.4 crores. To pay these debts, Srikanth looked at the property of his wife’s parents. He conspired that if brother-in-law is killed, he will get the property of the in-laws, with which he will pay off his debts and live a luxurious life. With this confidence, he plotted to kill his brother-in-law.

Anand (35) who worked as a cook in Anjayanagar, Karwar district of Karnataka, contacted Ambati Venkatesh, a hostel supervisor, and told them about the murder plot. He signed the contract after giving supari of Rs.10 lakhs. He gave Rs. 2 lakh as an advance. On August 29th 2024, he switched off the CCTV cameras on the ground floor of the hostel where Yashwant was staying and sent Yashwant’s friend Mahesh out on the 31st August 2024. On September 1st 2024 at 12.45 midnight, Anand and Venkatesh entered the Yashwant room, tied Yashwant’s legs and hands and strangled him with a choker. Yashwant’s weight was 90 kg and it became difficult to hang him. As a result, photos were taken as if dead body was being lowered from the gallows. Srikanth’s told his in-laws that his brother-in-law had committed suicide due to addiction. On the same day, he took the dead body in the car and left for Kavali. He hastily cremated at his mother in law’s house. But Prakasam, who saw injuries on the dead body during the burial, and checked the CCTV footage of the hostel, and his suspicions were strengthened. A complaint was immediately lodged with the police on 10th of this September 2024. When questioned by the police in their own style, Srikanth confessed to the crime. The accused who assisted in the murder were also arrested and Rs.90 thousand in cash, 4 phones and photographs were seized.
