Oxford Astrazeneca’s late phase trials know as Covishield in India are going well without any major side effects. Covisheild vaccine trials are carried out by Pune based Serum Institute of India (SII) at many sites which are currently in phase-II and III stages.
The vaccine trials are going on from 7 months and it efficacy was tested on 1600 participants across 17 trial sites in India. Other two vaccine candidates from India have crossed the pre clinical trials and are in Phase-I and II stages now apart from SII’s Covisheild. Those are
Covaxin – Bharat Biotech and ICMR
zycov-D – Gujarat Based Zydus Cadila.
Some of the participants experienced a fever but it is considered as common and mild side effects of vaccine.
If India will be working by concerning the norms and regulations then in near future India may be giving vaccine to the world.
