NOB- China news: A new coronavirus, HKU5-CoV-2, has been identified in China. This virus found in bats has the potential to spread from animals to humans. Scientists have described it as similar to Covid-19, but said it is not as serious. This research was carried out by a team of scientists in Hong Kong, the results of which were published in a peer-reviewed journal. This new virus poses a threat to human health. Scientists have discovered another virus similar to the corona virus in China. Its name is HKU5-CoV-2. It is believed that it is at risk of being transmitted from animals to humans. It is said that this virus found in bats is as dangerous as corona. SARS-CoV2, which causes Covid-19, has been identified as poly. The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported on the details of this virus. The research team was led by Shi Zhengli, a renowned virologist who has done extensive research on coronaviruses in bats and is known as the Bat Woman. Scientists from the Guangzhou Laboratory, Guangzhou Academy of Sciences, Wuhan University, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology participated in the research. Their findings were published in the peer-reviewed journal Cell on 18.02.2025. The newly discovered virus belongs to the Merbecovirus genus, which includes the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus. This is a new form of the HKU5 coronavirus, which was first identified in Japanese pipistrelle bats in Hong Kong. Scientists say it is possible that it can be transmitted directly or from animals to humans. However, it is said that the corona has not had such a serious impact. However, new viruses are emerging and disrupting people’s lives. With these latest studies, the fear of another new virus is gripping people.
