Facts and statistics on COVID-19 in United States

As of November 20th 2020, the CoVID-19 disease continues to spread around the world with 57 million cases and over 1.3 million deaths according to John Elflein. Since the first week of March the number of cases has dramatically risen in United States and now it has increased the deaths compared to any other country worldwide.

New York has reported highest number of deaths, California and Texas with highest number of cases has been reported recently in U.S.

Response of U.S. government:

In U.S. on November 19, over 11 million cases has been reported as per CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).This may be due to some defects in diagnostic kits from the CDC. Almost 175 million tests were performed in U.S. till now.

Situation in New York and COVID deaths:

As of November 20th 2020, around 258,333 people died from COVID-19 in U.S. On March 31st the White House’s corona virus task force stated that between 100,000 and 200,000 Americans would die due to COVID-19. Elderly and pre-existing medical conditions people are more vulnerable to the illness and had major health threat.

New York has around 50,200 positive cases by November 14th and also been second highest in death rate due to COVID-19 with 16,636 deaths.

Impact on economy:

U.S. government has passed a 2 trillion U.S. dollar relief bill in response to the impact on the U.S. economy due to COVID-19 which is the largest economic stimulus package in U.S. history. The long term impact on domestic and global economies is difficult to predict.
