
NOB-Sriharikota news: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reached a new milestone on 29.01.2025. It successfully launched a second generation navigation satellite into orbit. This is ISRO’s 100th launch. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-F15 (GSLV-F15), which started off from the second launchpad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SSC) in Sriharikota at 6.23 am, successfully placed the NVS-02 satellite it was carrying into an orbit of 322.93 km exactly 19 minutes later. Speaking on the occasion, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan said that ISRO has launched 548 satellites of six generations in 100 launches so far. They weigh a total of 120 tonnes. Of these, 433 are foreign satellites. The satellites launched by ISRO include three Chandrayaan missions, Mars Orbiter Mission, Aditya L1, and 104 satellites in a single launch, navigation and earth observation satellites. Meanwhile, the recently launched SVS-02 satellite is an indigenous navigation satellite system developed by ISRO scientists. Its weight is 2,250 kg. This is the first launch for V. Narayanan, who took over as ISRO chief. This satellite provides services such as technology in agriculture, aircraft management, location in mobile devices.
