
NOB- Suryapet news: In April 2021, the accused Bhanothu Bharathi alias Lasya (32) of Mekalapati Thanda under Mothe police station limits of Kodada police division, brutally murdered her seven-month-old daughter by slitting her throat with a knife, claiming that she was a seven-month-old girl who was to be sacrificed for a snake ritual to remove her snake charmer. In this case, the then Mote SI Praveen Kumar (now Munagala SI) immediately responded to the complaint, registered an FIR and conducted a preliminary investigation. Later, the case was handed over to the then Munagala CI Anjaneyalu, after which he completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the court. Considering the statements of the witnesses and physical evidence in the case, considering this case to be the rarest of rare cases, the First Additional Sessions Court Judge of Suryapet District, Dr. Shyama Sri, sentenced the accused Bharati, who had killed her daughter, to death. Since the beginning of the investigation of this horrific and sensational case, in view of the importance of the case, the District SP Kothapalli Narasimha, IPS, paid special attention and gave appropriate instructions and advice to Kodad DSP Sridhar Reddy and Munagala CI Ramakrishna Reddy, as well as Mothe SI Yadavendra. Under the leadership of Public Prosecutor N. Savindra Kumar, the prosecution successfully conducted the investigation and proved the case before the court with complete evidence and took steps to sentence the accused Bharati to the maximum penalty of death in the penal code. Court Liaison Officer G. Srikanth and Mothe CDO PC Nagaraju made special efforts in the investigation of this case. After this case, the accused Bharati attempted to murder her husband again. In that case too, the Huzur Nagar Sub-Court sentenced the accused Bharati to one year in prison. He said that for this, efforts are being made to sensitize people through the “Praja Bharosa” program in remote villages, especially in tribal areas, with the help of police Kala Jata groups.
