Menstruation or period is a process of uterus line shedding in the form of blood. This happens once in month for female starting from their puberty age . Most of the women nowadays are facing certain problems related to menstruation. Those include lower abdominal pain, tender breasts, lower back pain, cramps in legs and stomach, migrane, headaches etc., These can be lowered by following certain dietary changes and also by some home remedies too.
- A week before the due date of period, one should avoid eating too much preserved foods and instead should eat more vitamin C rich fruits to avoid cramps and pain in lower abdomen while on periods.
- Fenugreek seeds should be soaked over night and next day morning after starting of periods has to be taken orally, this reduces the headaches and migrane upto some extent.
- Applying coconut oil on the surface of lower abdomen and lower back can relive from cramps in those areas.
- Breast tenderness or pain can be avoided by wearing breathable and loose clothes.
- Have a lukewarm water bath to relieve with body aches during period days.
- Eat more fibre rich foods to avoid constipation during periods.
- Drink plenty of water to balance the hormones during periods.
- Have good sleep and take rest if necessary during period days.
- Eat lots of veggies during periods that will indirectly ease pains and discomfort.
- Avoid alcohol and smoking during periods as they may increase the ailments of periods.
Personal hygiene is very important during period days, so taking bath atleast once a day, and changing of sanitary pads or tampons once in every four hours is recommended per day to avoid infections.
If the symptoms persists for more than four cycles continuously then immediately consult your gynecologist to root out the cause.
