
NOB- Bharath news: Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda assures the people of the country. Health experts have clarified that HMPV is not a new virus. It was first identified in 2001. It has been spreading all over the world for many years. HMPV is spread through the air, through breathing. It affects people of all age groups during winter and early spring. The situation in China and neighbouring countries where HMPV cases are present is being closely monitored by the Health Ministry, ICMR and National Centre for Disease Control. ICMR keeps the Centre informed of reports of respiratory viruses from time to time. ICMR and Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme have also been reviewed. No increase in common respiratory viral pathogens has been observed in India. A meeting of the Monitoring Group was held on January 4th, 2025 under the chairmanship of the Director General for Health Services to review the HMPV situation. The country’s health systems and surveillance networks are on high alert. The country is ready to respond immediately to health challenges. They are closely monitoring the HMPV virus situation.
