NOB- Bharat news: There are chances of replacing old SIM cards with new SIM cards across the country. An investigation by the country’s top cyber security agency has found that Chinese chipsets can collect user information. Two officials have said this unofficially, and discussions are underway on the changes that will happen soon. Officials said that the investigation conducted by the National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC) and the Home Ministry has found that SIM chipsets can be a cause of national security problems. As part of the first phase, there is a possibility of replacing old SIM (subscriber identity module) cards in mobile phones. Keeping in mind the legal challenges, the government is planning on the feasibility. Recently, it held meetings with telecom companies Bharti Airtel Limited, Vodafone Idea Limited, Reliance Jio executives and officials of the telecommunications department. The NCSC, Home Ministry, DoT and telecom operators have not yet received a response to emailed questions.
