NOB- Bharat news: President Draupadi Murmu asked sensational questions to the Supreme Court. She questioned whether the Supreme Court can impose deadlines on state governors as well. In the Tamil Nadu case, the Supreme Court said that the President and Governor should approve or return the bills sent by the states within a maximum of three months, and if the bills are being sent back to the state government, the reasons for doing so should be attached. A month ago, the Supreme Court issued a 415-page judgment in this regard. Recently, President Draupadi Murmu wrote a letter to the Supreme Court asking several questions. In that letter, Draupadi Murmu asked whether deadlines can be imposed on governors. President Draupadi Murmu asked 14 questions in her letter to the Supreme Court. All these questions are related to the powers of the Governor and the President. Similarly the questions asked by the President are related to Articles 200, 201, 361, 143, 142, 145(3), 131 of the Constitution. What option does the Governor have when a bill comes to him? Is it necessary for the Governor to follow the advice of the Council of Ministers ? Draupadi Murmu asked in a letter to the Supreme Court.

The questions asked by the President are as follows

  • How do the courts fix a deadline for the President and the Governor?
  • What are the constitutional options before the Governor when a bill is presented under Article 200 of the Constitution?
  • How can the Supreme Court replace the powers of the President or the Governor in the Constitution with its own powers under Article 142?
  • Are the states abusing the plenary powers of the Supreme Court against the Centre?
  • Does Article 361 of the Constitution impose a complete ban on judicial review of the acts of the Governor under Article 200?
  • Is it lawful for the President under Article 201 and the Governor under Article 200 to exercise their constitutional discretion?
  • Is it necessary to seek the advice of the Supreme Court under Article 143 or to reserve a bill for the assent of the Governor or the President or to obtain the opinion of the Supreme Court in any other way in accordance with the powers of the President in the Constitution?
