NOB- Singareni elections news: The Congress government in Telangana is facing its first fire test in the first month after coming to power. The party is working hard for the victory of INTUC, the Congress party’s affiliate, in the Singareni elections to be held on 27th of December 2023.BRS, which has won two times in the past, is aiming to win once again and score a hat-trick. It is interesting that Congress and CPI, who contested together in the previous assembly elections, are contesting separately in this election. These elections are being held in 11 areas under the districts of Komaram Bhim, Manchiryala, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapalli, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts. There are currently around 40 thousand workers in Singareni. On October 5, 2017, Singareni recognition union elections were held and BRS affiliated Telangana Coal Mine Workers Union TBGKS won in that election. Earlier, the same community had won the elections held in 2012.
While the BRS affiliated labor union is competing to win once again, INTUC, the affiliated union of the ruling Congress party in the state, is also vying for victory. It is known that AITUC, the CPI affiliated labor union, has a significant influence among Singareni workers. In the recently held assembly elections, Congress and CPI worked in alliance and CPI state secretary Koonanneni Sambasiva Rao won in Kothagudem, the Singareni headquarters allotted to CPI as part of the alliance. But in the Singareni election, the Congress and CPI affiliated labor unions stood separately in the competition. It is known that although the BRS affiliated labor union thought that it should stay away from the competition in this election, it later announced that it is contesting under the pressure of the labor union leaders. With this, the main competition between BRS affiliate TBGKS, CPI affiliate labor union AITUC and Congress party affiliate labor union INTUC is likely to continue. CITU, BMS, HMS National Unions are also in competition and fighting for existence.
