Spoiled food supply complaint on a bakery: Food Safety officer action

NOB-Karimnagar news: This evening on 30/03/2026 the Food Safety Office received a complaint alleging that an egg puff ordered from Ganesh Bangalore Bakery, located in the Rekurthi area of ​​Karimnagar, emitted a foul odor. Acting on this complaint, Food Safety officials conducted an inspection of the aforementioned premises at approximately 4:00 PM.

During the inspection, the following observations were made:

  • It was discovered that spoiled and cracked eggs were being used in the preparation of cakes and egg puffs.
  • The kitchen area was found to be completely unsanitary.
  • Insects were observed in the Maida (refined flour) and cream. Furthermore, insects were also found in the sugar syrup and cream stored in the freezer.
  • In the storage area, 14 trays of cracked eggs (totaling 420 eggs) were identified. As a result of these cracked eggs, the entire kitchen area was infested with flies.
  • Cakes prepared using these cracked eggs estimated to be worth approximately Rs.7,000 were found on the bakery premises.
  • The spoiled eggs and cakes were immediately disposed of on the spot. In total, stock worth approximately Rs.9,000 was destroyed.

The bakery’s FSSAI license has been temporarily suspended. The bakery is not permitted to resume operations until the necessary corrective measures have been implemented. Additionally, due to the violation of food safety regulations, adjudication proceedings are being initiated under the Food Safety Act, 2006.
