NOB- New Delhi news: A terrible incident took place at Delhi Railway Station. The Railways had arranged special trains for devotees going to Mahakumbh Mela. A stampede took place as a large number of passengers reached the station for these trains. 15 people died in the stampede that took place on 15.02.2025 night. Sources at LNJP Hospital in Delhi revealed that 10 women and three children were among the dead. More than 30 people were injured. It is reported that some of them are in critical condition. Within 15-20 minutes of the announcement of the special train to Prayagraj, a large number of passengers reached platforms 14 and 15. Eyewitnesses said that a stampede took place suddenly. The incident took place at around 10 pm on 15.02.2025. It was said that the stampede occurred when all the passengers tried to board the train at once. The Railways initially announced that there was no stampede and that the rumours should not be believed. Later, it said that the situation was under control and the injured were shifted to the hospital. NDRF teams reached the railway station immediately after the incident. The injured were shifted to various hospitals. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Saxena and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the deaths in the stampede. Meanwhile, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav responded by saying that the situation was under control and a high-level investigation has been ordered into the incident. Eyewitnesses alleged that no security personnel were present at the time of the incident. Railway police said that the stampede occurred due to the late arrival of two trains and a large crowd of passengers crowding the platform within 15-20 minutes. Prime Minister Modi expressed shock over the death of 15 people in the stampede at Delhi Railway Station. He said that the incident has touched his heart. He expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. He said that he is praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. On the other hand, in the wake of a large number of devotees still coming to the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has requested the Uttar Pradesh government to extend the Kumbh Mela for a few more days. The UP government said that 50 crore people have taken holy dip in the Triveni Sangam as part of the Kumbh Mela so far. Meanwhile, another fire broke out at the Mahakumbh Mela on 15.02.2025. Several tents were gutted in the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured. Ten people died after a bus carrying devotees collided with a Bolero vehicle on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur National Highway. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals. Rescue teams reached the spot and shifted the injured to various hospitals. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Saxena and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh expressed grief over the deaths in the stampede. The Railways has ordered an investigation into the stampede incident. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, Union Defense Ministers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, AICC President Kharge and Rahul Gandhi expressed deep shock over the stampede incident at the New Delhi Railway Station. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and the Lieutenant Governor visited the injured who are undergoing treatment at LNJP Hospital.
