NOB- Rangareddy news: Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya meets and Seethakka met Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Annapurna Devi in Delhi, on 03.02.2025. They requested for additional funds to be sanctioned to Anganwadi centers. She submitted the necessary budget proposals to implement the snack scheme for children coming to Anganwadi centers. They explained the need to upgrade the existing infrastructure in Anganwadi centers across Telangana. TG Foods Chairman MA Fahim along with Women and Child Welfare Commissioner Kanti Wesley, Minister Seethakka submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister and discussed for an hour. Along with the schemes being implemented in Telangana, the need for a snack scheme for Anganwadi children was explained. Currently, 35,700 AWCs are functioning in the state, while Minister Seethakka brought to the attention of the Union Minister that Telangana is a pioneer in implementing complete nutrition for women and children through the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). Currently, 8.6 lakh children between the ages of 3 and 6 are provided with a full hot meal, along with eggs and snacks, through the Supplementary Nutrition Program. However, due to various reasons, many children are suffering from nutritional deficiencies after Corona. That is why the Telangana government is planning to introduce a snack scheme to improve the nutrition of Anganwadi children. If the proposed breakfast scheme is implemented, children will receive additional nutrition every day. In addition, it will encourage children to attend pre-schools regularly. 8.6 lakh Anganwadi children will benefit from this scheme. Each child is expected to spend Rs. 8 per day on breakfast. This means that the implementation of this scheme will cost Rs. 206 crore per year. In this context, Minister Seethakka sought central cooperation for the implementation of the breakfast scheme in Anganwadi centers. He appealed to sanction funds keeping in mind the nutritional needs of children. However, Union Minister Annapurna Devi praised the proposal for a breakfast scheme for children in Anganwadi centers. He appreciated the idea of providing breakfast to children and said that it is a great idea. The Union Minister announced that the Center will provide support to the breakfast scheme for children. He assured that he will discuss it in the budget meetings and work towards sanctioning funds. He said that he will soon visit Telangana and study the schemes being implemented for the welfare of women and children. Minister Seethakka thanked Union Minister Annapurna Devi for responding positively to her proposal.
