NOB_Kamareddy: District Collector Ashish Sangwan has directed officials to lay special focus on road safety and take preventive measures to curb road accidents.
The District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) meeting was held on Tuesday at IDOC under the chairmanship of Collector Ashish Sangwan. SP Rajesh Chandra, DFO Neeraj and officials of all concerned departments participated.
Key highlights from the meeting:
- Safety measures on NH-44: The Collector ordered officials to identify locations for Foot Over Bridges for pedestrian safety and to take steps for construction of Animal Underpasses for safe movement of wildlife and cattle on NH-44.
- Strict vigil on school autos: Expressing concern over autos carrying school children beyond capacity, the Collector said fines are being imposed by the transport department but continuous vigilance during school hours is a must. He warned of strict action against overloaded vehicles and said awareness should be created among parents not to send children in such autos.
SP Rajesh Chandra said all departments should work in coordination to prevent road accidents.
- Action on illegal dhabas on NH-44 & NH-161: The Collector ordered joint action against unauthorized dhabas operating along the national highways.
Officials informed that on NH-161, notices have been issued to 42 illegal dhabas and access roads of 7 dhabas have already been removed.
The Collector instructed all departments to strictly implement road safety norms and work in coordination to effectively prevent accidents.
