NOB_Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri: Former Aleru Agricultural Market Committee Director Manjula Pattipati has expressed serious concern over the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, she said, “We need to seriously think about the impact of excessive use of chemicals on our soil, environment and health. We are poisoning our mother-like land and eating the food grown from the same poisoned land. As a result, our land is getting degraded and we are falling prey to diseases.”

She called upon farmers and authorities to reduce the use of hazardous chemicals and move towards safe, sustainable and natural farming.

Stating that Sikkim has emerged as a role model for organic farming in the country, she said it is time for Telangana to take steps in the direction of Sikkim-style sustainable agriculture.
