
NOB-Telangana news: It is learnt that the state government has decided to appoint K Ramakrishna Rao as the next Chief Secretary of the state government. The current CS Shanthi Kumari, who belongs to the 1989 batch, has been acting as CS since January 2021.It is reported that K Ramakrishna Rao’s name has been finalized as the next CS in the context of her term ending May month 2025. Ramakrishna Rao, a 1990 batch IAS, has been handling the Finance Department since the formation of Telangana.Ramakrishna Rao will retire in August 2025. Ramakrishna Rao is the senior-most among the current IAS after Shashank Goyal. It is reported that the Chief Minister has decided to appoint him as CS, considering that his services in the Finance Department and his experience in leading the state economically will be useful.Ramakrishna Rao previously served as Nalgonda Joint Collector and Guntur Collector. It is learnt that the current CS Shanthi Kumari is planning to take VRS for her service. It is learnt that her VRS decision will be announced soon.With this, it is learnt that the government has decided to appoint K. Ramakrishna Rao as the new CS. Actually, Shanthi Kumari will retire by the end of this March 2025. It is learnt that she is planning to take VRS earlier than that.It is learnt that Shanthi Kumari will be appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner after VRS. It is learnt that her appointment has already been finalised and only the formal process is yet to be done. It is learnt that the appointment meeting for Information Commissioners will be held next week. She will be appointed as Information Commissioners along with some others in the meeting chaired by CM Revanth Reddy.
