Amit Shah launches Turmeric Board in Nizamabad

NOB-Nizamabad news: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi government has made the dream of Telangana turmeric farmers, which has been dreaming for four decades, come true. As part of his visit to Nizamabad on 29.06.2025, he formally inaugurated the regional office of the National Turmeric Board set up in Vinayaknagar. Speaking at a gathering organized on the occasion, he assured that the central government is fully committed to the progress of Telangana farmers and the welfare of turmeric farmers. Nizamabad turmeric has a great reputation in the global market and its importance needs to be further increased, Amit Shah opined. He praised turmeric as not just a crop, but a divine medicine with anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-cancer properties. “We are working towards exporting turmeric products worth one billion dollars (about Rs. 8,300 crore) from India by 2030,” he clarified. Amit Shah explained that through this board, farmers will be trained on modern cultivation methods, thereby helping to increase yield and quality.

I feel fortunate to have started the Turmeric Board in such a place,” Amit Shah began his speech by saying. He recalled that BJP MPs had worked hard to achieve a Turmeric Board for Telangana. He said that not only was the board formed as a result of their struggle, but also a person from Telangana was appointed as its chairman. Amit Shah believed that Nizamabad turmeric has a great reputation in the global market and its importance needs to be further increased. He explained that the central government would take all steps to promote turmeric from this region not only domestically but also internationally. He reiterated that the central government is focusing on resolving the problems faced by turmeric farmers and ensuring that they get a better support price. He expressed hope that this would make turmeric cultivation more profitable.

Turmeric not just a crop, but a divine medicine: Amit Shah described the importance of turmeric not just as a commercial crop, but as a divine medicine with medicinal properties. He mentioned that the anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-cancer properties of turmeric make it very beneficial for human health. He explained that the importance of turmeric is increasing day by day in Ayurveda and modern medical research. Keeping this in mind, he said that the central government has set a target to significantly increase the exports of turmeric products. He assured that all kinds of incentives will be provided to achieve the target of exporting turmeric products worth $ 1 billion by 2030. He emphasized that this will not only increase the income of turmeric farmers but also strengthen the country’s economy. He said that promoting turmeric-based industries will also increase employment opportunities.

Farmers will benefit from modern training, geo-tagging and cooperative societies: Amit Shah explained that the newly opened regional office of the National Turmeric Board will provide many benefits to farmers. He said that farmers will be trained on modern cultivation methods, improved varieties and pest control. He expressed hope that this will increase the yield and quality and farmers will be able to earn more profits. He revealed that the geo-tagging process has already been started for special recognition of Nizamabad turmeric. He said that this will create a brand for Nizamabad turmeric internationally and increase its market value. Moreover, he assured that efforts will be made to ensure that farmers benefit more economically through Bharat Co-operative Societies. He said that cooperative societies will strengthen farmers by providing credit facilities and marketing support. Union Ministers Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, State Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, Seethakka, MPs Dharmapuri Arvind, Dr. K. Lakshman, National Turmeric Board Chairman Kethireddy Gangareddy and others participated. Everyone hoped that this historic event would shed new light in the lives of Telangana turmeric farmers.
