
NOB-Mehdipatnam news: The Mehdipatnam Police and the Commissioner’s Task Force, South West Zone, jointly raided Eidgah Grounds, First Lancer, Hyderabad, on 12th November 2025, and arrested eight persons for printing and circulating counterfeit Indian currency. The teams seize 4.75 lakh in fake 500 rupees notes (950 notes), one Maruti Suzuki Fronx car, three two-wheelers, and nine mobile phones. The main accused, Kasthuri Ramesh Babu (35)), a car mechanic from Tandur, Telangana, was found to be manufacturing fake notes at his residence using a scanner, Photoshop software, and JK bond paper. He used green gift paper to imitate the security thread and glued it using Fevicol before drying the notes with a heat gun. Ramesh, previously arrested in similar cases, promoted the sale of fake notes on Instagram and supplied them to his associates at ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:2. Based on his contacts, Abdul Waheed, Mohd Abdul Khader, Mohd Sohail, Mohd Fahad, Shaik Imran, Omer Khan and Syed Altamash Ahmed helped circulate the fake currency. All eight were arrested and produced before the court, and further searches at Ramesh Babu’s residence led to the recovery of additional counterfeiting materials.
