Delhi CM Kejriwal arrest in Delhi Excise Policy case

NOB-New Delhi news: A sensational development is recorded in the case of Delhi Liquor Scam. ED officials went to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on 21.03.2021 evening to serve the 10th summons in the Delhi Excise Policy case with an arrest warrant. 12 investigating officers are at Kejriwal’s residence after searches, he was arrested. He is the first CM in the history of democratic India to be arrested. The investigation team also questioned the national convener of AAP in this case. Kejriwal’s statement is being recorded under Section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).  However, the Delhi High Court rejected the petition filed by Kejriwal seeking temporary relief from forced arrest. However, the High Court directed the ED to respond to Kejriwal’s petition by April 22nd 2024. If Kejriwal is unable to tell the reasons behind the ED summons, the court asked them to show the evidence against him.

Recently, the ED arrested Kavitha Kalvakuntla, the daughter of former Telangana CM KCR, in the liquor scam case. Currently, many leaders like Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Kavitha are serving jail terms in this case. In this context, many are of the opinion that there is no need to be surprised even if Kejriwal is arrested.
