
NOB- Delhi news: The opposition parties in the Rajya Sabha on 06.02.2025 expressed strong protest over the treatment of illegal immigrants while they are being sent back to their home country. In this context, Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar responded in the Rajya Sabha. He said that sending back illegal immigrants to their home country is nothing new today. He said that this is the standard policy of that country. Minister Jaishankar felt that it is not right to treat them disrespectfully while bringing them back on a plane. He said that he is discussing this issue with the US government. At the same time, he said that he wants to make visas easier for legal travelers and take strict action against illegal immigrants. However, he said that he has received information that women and small children are not being treated in this way. On the other hand, in the Lok Sabha Congress MPs Manikam Tagore and Gaurav Gogoi along with KC Venugopal have given notices regarding the adjournment motion moved by them on the repatriation of those living illegally in the US. It is known that 104 Indian illegal immigrants returned from the US in a C-17 fighter jet in Amritsar on 05.02.2025. On the other hand, there has been criticism that the immigrants who returned from the US were handcuffed. The opposition parties are also angry about this. Several MPs from opposition parties have criticized the government’s treatment of Indians deported from America. On this occasion, they questioned the treatment of illegal immigrants. They said that they were handcuffed during this journey. The illegal immigrants said that they were untied after reaching the Amritsar airport. Apart from this, Congress party MPs Mallikarjun Kharde, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other opposition MPs expressed anger over the behavior of the American authorities. In protest, a demonstration was held in Parliament. Some other leaders also wore handcuffs.
