NOB- Warangal news:For the first time in the history of the Warangal Police Commissionerate, a joint operation by the Warangal Drug Control Unit, the CAT Party, and the Inthezargunj Police has led to the arrest of four members of a gang involved in large-scale hash oil (oil extracted from cannabis plants) smuggling. From this gang, the police seized hash oil valued at approximately Rs.2.50 crores, along with two mobile phones. The individuals arrested by the police include: 1. HantalSannu (23), Suvvapalli Village, Chitrakonda Mandal, Malkangiri District, Odisha; 2. Hantal Sanyasi (23), Rekapalli, Chitrakonda Mandal, Malkangiri District, Odisha; 3. KandelaChinnababu (56), Darakonda Village, Gudem Mandal, Alluri District, Andhra Pradesh; and 4. Krishna Hantal (56), Rekapalli, Chitrakonda Mandal, Malkangiri District, Odisha. Meanwhile, another accused, ‘Kilo’ Pandu, is currently absconding. Providing details regarding these arrests, Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh, IPS, stated that all the apprehended accused were known to one another. He noted that the prime accused, HantalSannu, cultivated cannabis plants in his native village and, with the assistance of the other accused, sold the produce to generate illicit income, which they subsequently spent on leading a lavish lifestyle. However, as the proceeds from selling marijuana were insufficient to fund their lavish lifestyles, the prime accused having established contact with another accused named “Kilo Pandu” (currently absconding), who specializes in extracting hash oil from marijuana plants decided to cultivate the plants themselves. Acting on Pandu’s instructions, the prime accused, along with the other co-accused, undertook the cultivation of marijuana plants. Subsequently, utilizing a specialized device brought by Pandu, the gang members successfully extracted 40 kilograms of hash oil from the plants. Of this quantity, Pandu took 20 kilograms for himself, while the remaining 20 kilograms were packed into one-kilogram packets. Each of the arrested accused took five kilograms of this hash oil and departed from Tuni Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh on the midnight of the 19.04.2026, boarding the Konark Express with the intention of selling the contraband in Mumbai. However, suspecting that police inspections were being conducted at Warangal Railway Station, the gang members disembarked there on20.04.2026. Early 21.04.2026 morning, while waiting to resume their journey to Mumbai, they were observed loitering suspiciously in the vicinity of the Railway Goods Shed near the Warangal Bus Stand. Upon receiving this intelligence, the police proceeded to the location, took the suspects into custody, and conducted a search. Discovering the hash oil in their possession, the police arrested the accused and seized the 20 kilograms of hash oil. The Police Commissioner commended Central Zone DCP Dara Kavitha, Warangal ASP Shubham, ACPs Jitender Reddy and Johnny Narsimhulu, Drug Control Team Inspector Y. Satish, Inthezargunj Inspector Shukoor, SIs Sandeep and Teja, RSIs A. PoornaChander Reddy, K. Manoj Reddy, and L. Lingarao, CAT Party AR ASIs V. Subbirami Reddy, Head Constables Bala Raju, K. Sriramulu, M.D. Rabbani, and R. Rajkumaralong with the Inthezargunj staff for displaying exceptional skill in apprehending the accused and seizing a large quantity of hash oil.
