
NOB- Suryapet news: District Police Office held a press conference, where District SP Narasimha IPS revealed the details of case and arrest details. The District Police Department is keeping a strict vigil on the transportation, supply, use and sale of ganja in the district and is continuously working to eradicate it. They are conducting extensive police checks in the district. On the 23.09.2025, unknown persons left about 110 kg of ganja along the national highway in Kodad town. The Kodad Town Police, who identified it, took possession of it, registered a case and investigated. As part of this investigation, 3 special teams were formed to identify the accused. On 06.10.2025, based on technical evidence, CC footage and reliable information, the Kodad town police were checking vehicles at the Kattakomgudem X-road on the national highway within the city limits when they noticed the police and chased a suspiciously fleeing car. In this, A 1 Kanam Ramesh was found in possession of 10 kg of ganja. According to his confession, A2 accused Chapala Ashok and A3 Chapala Erakamma were arrested and the case was investigated. They confessed that they had abandoned 110 kg of ganja in the Kodad town limits September month 2025. They confessed that they had abandoned it and fled because they were afraid of being found as the district police were conducting detailed checks.

The accused A-1, a resident of Hyderabad, Kanam Ramesh, used to supply rice to ashrams that had daily food grains. He did not get proper income and did not pay the millers. The business was not going well. He stayed away from his family and went to Om shanthi Brahma Kumari ashram for mental peace. He met A-3 Erakamma, a resident of Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. They had been living together in Vijayawada for the last two years and were doing rice business. When the business started to suffer again, he told A-3 Erakamma that if he wanted to earn more money, he would pay off his debts. When she said yes, they planned to earn more money together. A-3 and A-2 Ashok were called to Vijayawada and A-2 brought the ganja from Odisha to Vijayawada and sold it to the people in Hyderabad. A-1 gave the money to A-2. A-2 Ashok went to Odisha and bought 110 KG of ganja at the rate of Rs. 5,000/- per kg and packed it in bags and brought it to A-2 Vijayawada at the cost of Rs. 5,000/- on the night of 22.09.2025. A-2 brought it to A-3 Vijayawada at the cost of Rs. 5,000/-. A-1 Ramesh loaded the said ganja in his Tata Zest car number TS 08 FR 6521 in Vijayawada and on the early morning of 23.09.2025, while he was going from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, on the way, the police were checking the vehicles on the road on the outskirts of Kodad town. He came a short distance towards Vijayawada and found a place there. He went inside a shed next to Bharat Petrol Bunk on the service road towards Hyderabad and dumped the 110 KG of ganja there and told Erakamma over the phone. A-1 fled from there and came to Vijayawada. He came after waiting for a few days, on the night of 05.10.2025, A-2 again brought 10 KG of ganja from Odisha. On the morning of 06.10.2025, A-1 was going from Vijayawada to Hyderabad with the ganja in his car to sell. On the way, the police were checking vehicles near Kattakommugudem X Road on the outskirts of Kodad town. The police saw them and the accused drove the car at high speed. The police chased them and caught them and seized 10 kg of ganja and 6 cell phones, a car, and after A-1’s confession, A-2 and A-3 were arrested in Vijayawada and seized two phones from them. After questioning, the accused were produced in court. Kodada Town Inspector Shiva Shankar, CCS SI Harikrishna, Kodadapattana SI Hanumanayak, Head Constable Balthu Srinivas, Constables N. Yalla Reddy, G. Satish, M. Venkateswaralu, K. Rambabu, S. K. Farid and the IT core staff were felicitated by Suryapet District SP K. Narasimha IPS with a reward for their outstanding performance in solving this case quickly.
