NOB_ Retired bank officer falls victim for cyber crime

NOB- Tadigadapa news: Even bank officers and employees with vast experience are getting caught in the web of cyber criminals. A retired bank officer from Tadigadapa was recently robbed of Rs. 78.33 lakh by promising good profits if he invests in the stock market. He was deceived and filed a complaint with the Penamalur police. According to the police report, Tallam Umamaheshwargupta is a resident of Padmajanagar, Tadigadapa. He worked as a high ranking officer in a bank and is living a retired life. He has experience in the stock market. In 2024 September, some people added him to a WhatsApp group called P 302 YSIL Official Exchange Community related to YESS Securities without his involvement. The group also posted a copy of a certificate granted by SEBI stating that this group is related to YESS Bank. After being convinced by the group managers that they would make good profits if they invested, Umamaheswargupta sent Rs.78.33 lakh to the specified accounts nine times from September 9th to October 10th 2024. Recently, they showed that they had made a profit of Rs.86 lakh. When they asked for Rs.20 lakh of the profit, Umamaheswargupta realized that he had been cheated. He also realized that the copy of the certificate sent to him was fake.
