Tax exemption on income up to Rs. 12 lakh?

NOB- Bharat news: The new financial year 2025-26 started from April 1st 2025. The changes made in the Budget 2025 in the new income tax regime (New Tax Regime) and the old income tax regime (Old Tax Regime) came into effect from 01.04.2025. It is known that in the general budget presented on February 1st 2025, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman abolished tax for those with income up to Rs. 12 lakh in the new tax regime. At the same time, no changes were made in the old tax regime. This now raises the question of whether the old tax regime is better or the new tax regime is better. According to the new tax regime, there will be no tax for those with income up to Rs. 4 lakh. 5 percent tax is applicable for those with income between Rs.4,00,001 and Rs.8,00,000. Those with income between Rs.8,00,001 and Rs.12,00,000 will have to pay 10 percent tax. Those with income between Rs.12,00,001 and Rs.16,00,000 will have to pay 15 percent, and those with income between Rs.16,00,001 and Rs.20,00,000 will have to pay 20 percent. Those with income between Rs.20,00,001 and Rs.24,00,000 will have to pay 25 percent tax, and those with income above Rs.24,00,001 will have to pay 30 percent tax.
