On 7th December 2020, as per the senior government official, Bharat Biotech a pharmaceutical institution of India presently manufacturing Oxford Covid-19 vaccine in the name of Covaxin has tried to get an emergency use authorization from Drugs Controller General of India(DCGI) for the use of vaccine doses for the people in India.
Serum Institute of India has become the first in applying for the permission from DCGI. Prime Minister Modi has cautioned people to be preventive before the vaccine comes.
