Hyderabad(NOB): Bars and restaurants across Telangana will remain shut from tomorrow, October 5 (Monday).
The Telangana Bar and Restaurant Owners Association has called for an indefinite bandh protesting the state government’s decision to hike license fee from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 44 lakh and privilege cess from 8% to 20%.
Association President Damodar Goud said each bar will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 30 lakh per year, while already suffering losses due to belt shops and permit rooms in wine shops. Around 1,185 bars will be closed.
Owners will stage a protest at Excise Bhavan, Nampally on Monday and have warned of hunger strikes if the GO is not revoked.
