
Grandson-in-law Arrested for Gold Earrings
Anantapur (NOB): Anantapur district police cracked the murder case of an 87-year-old woman within just 5 hours of receiving the complaint.
The victim, Meesala Sannagulu (87), residing in Kovur Nagar, Anantapur Town, was alone at home on Monday afternoon when the accused attacked her. He allegedly hit her strongly on the head with a pestle and killed her, then cut her ears with a cutter blade and robbed her gold earrings.
On receiving information, Fourth Town police reached the spot, registered a case and intensified investigation.
As per the directions of SP Sri P. Jagadish, IPS, under the supervision of Anantapur DSP Karunakar Rao, special police teams led by City CIs and CCS CI were formed. With scientific investigation and collection of evidence, police identified the accused as Lakshminarayana, who is a relative grandson of the deceased.
On Monday night, police tactfully nabbed the accused under the Ramnagar flyover bridge. Based on his confession, police seized two gold earrings of the deceased and the cutter blade used for the crime.
The accused is the brother-in-law of Gopal, the victim’s own grandson. His native village is Chikkepalli in Peddapappur mandal.
SP P. Jagadish lauded the special police teams for cracking the case with technical expertise in a few hours and stated that no criminal can escape the law.
